Take a look below to find out how we made the journey from working in the UK to teaching English in China.

TEFL Express & BucklandThis could be you!
Second time with Buckland

So, 2 years ago we had the crazy idea of working as English teachers in another country.... It took 2 years of planning and making sure everything was right before we decided this was definitely what we wanted to do.
We decided to do a TEFL course via TEFL express. This online course is recognised all over the world and enables you to teach English oral skills to foreign learners. Most countries want you to be degree educated but in some cases (as in mine) they will take your life experience into account. Follow this link: http://www.teflexpress.co.uk/buddy120hour/120_hour_Advanced_TEFL_Course and select the REDEEM options and then use the promotional code Buddy360021311 for a fantastic discount on a TEFL English training course.
Firstly you have to find a job. sometimes finding the job will lead you to the country you start off in. If you use TEFL Express to do your TEFL course they also advertise positions and internships all over Asia.
After plenty of research and emails we decided to use the Buckland International Group for our first venture and biggest step.
Buckland were great and helped us every step of the way.Buckland offer 1 term and 2 term contracts with a lot of incentives to stay for the 12 month period, such as Airfare allowance and bonus for completion. You cannot apply for your visa until you receive your letter of invitation from your new employer. Buckland can send the Invitation letters via DHL so you can get them within a week. They do a great job of keeping you informed as to the process and what you need to do. They also give you information on the schools available so you can do some research and speak to teachers who have taught there. Click on the link above or on the 'Links' page to find out more information on the Buckland Group.
Of course you may decide to use another company but make sure you do your homework before commiting. There would be nothing worse than being stranded in a foreign country with no support and the wrong documents. A lot of companies offer more money than Buckland but as far as I am concerned the support you get from them more than makes up for it and if there is any problems in your new school they are on hand to help sort it out.
We had to travel to Manchester to get our Z visa's (this is an expense of about 100 GBP per visa) and travel back a week later to pick them up. Its a nightmare place to find so leave plenty of time to get there.
Once the Z visa has been included into your passport your free to travel.
Buckland advise you take enough money to last you a month which is about 5000 Yuan (500 GBP) but you wont need this much if your careful. We manged on 3300 Yuan, that's both of us and eating out everyday!
Anyone who is thinking of doing it my advice would be.....GO FOR IT Teach English
What have you got to lose?
BTW: Please say where you saw the link. Thanks.
