Day 17
SUNSHINE!! At last! woke up at 07,45 to blue skies, sunshine and the site kitty cat. She was sat on the bonnet of the van meowing. Full cooked breakfast and choritzo for the cat. Time to pack up and move on. 12.15- filled up, emptied and ready to hit the road. Jane took us on a massive detour up and over the mountains. It was raining and hailing too! Stopped at the top for lunch at 15.15. Fuel 41 euro's. Along the A92 towards Almeria we drove through the Sierra Nevada. WOW, houses built into the sandstone rocks and mountains. It lloks like the grand canyon.
Through a tomoato plantaton to La Isleta right on the Southern tip of Spain. Amazing views and a small fishing village with white washed houses nestled high up in the mountains. It also has 2 dive schools! We are parked for the night at the edge of the beach with nothing but sea views. Looking forward to the sunrise in the morning. Burgers for tea and a walk around the village. Back to Bessie-Goodnight. 339km

961 Euro's in 18 days! 53 Euro's per day. HOLY MOLEY! NEED A JOB SOON!
After seeing a very weird man in the car park we decided to move on 16.00hrs ( I will not write down why I thought he was weird but if you ask me I will tell you) I have to say my hubby is an awesome driver. He has negotiated some pretty hairy scenarios on this trip so far. Mountain passes, hair pin bends, 10% up hill gradients, hail, snow, rain, strong winds that moved the van, tiny streets etc. I had my eyes closed some of the time and I think he did too!
Arrived in San Juan de los Terreros 18.00 115km. Gorgeous sunny day, its weird how quickly the weather changes in Spain. Parked literally on the beach under a palm tree and some beautiful scenery. Sitting sipping Martini and lemonade , which always reminds me of my Auntie Kath, watching the sunset over the mountains.....WOW!
Mileage to date 5046 km.
Day 19.
What a night! Hangover from hell! Way too much Martini, beer,Chinese pub games and cool tunes on the radio. Beans on toast sunshine and t-shirts/shorts weather. I spent the day lazing on the beach reading and sunbathing. Jaz donned the wet suit and went swimming in the sea. He said it was bloody freezing... ha ha
Pork chops, veggies and spuds for tea.
Went for a stroll along the beach...This area is mostly volcanic. There was an information board about the beach so we stopped to look, there was a warning about the Medusa Jellyfish....Jaz said 'it's a bit bloody late now!' Red sunset over the mountains tonight so looks like another nice day tomorrow. Lets hope we have finally seen the last of the wet stuff!
Day 20
Awake at 07.00 to watch the sunrise. I have slept for 11 hours and only woke up once for the loo. Jaz is still snoring @ 08.00 so he has had 12 hours so far...lol He finally got up at 09.00 had breakfast of boiled eggs and fresh baguette from the morning bead van (0.75 euro's) packed up Bessie and off we go. We are heading towards Alicante.
Arrived in El Campello @ 13.00. The camper stop is just outside the town over looking the bay. It is 5 euro's a night including elec, WIFI and showers and the guy who runs is it a cheeky bugger...lol. After chatting with the locals in the bar we headed off into El C to find a cash-point. There is a tram that runs from Benidorm to Alicante and it stops
at the bottom of a very steep hill every half hour. El C is a nice place, lovely beaches and little bars and shops.
Jaz brought a cowboy hat 16 euro's.... he looks like Kenny Rodgers now....lol On the way back we noticed people swiping cards in a machine to pay the fare...we didn't do it on the way, so we decided to wait it out and see if we could get away with it again. about 2 stops from ours we saw the conductor coming...we decided to play dumb and see what happened. About 5 people from us we stopped at our stop so we jumped off...RESULT...saved 5.40 euro's by fare dodging...enough for 2 pints which we will need when we climb back up that bloody hill! Think we are going
into the bar to watch the England match later so Adios for now.....
