Shame number 2's foreign teacher Chris was such a bad loser.....ha ha
Final score 42-20 Number 1 winners!!!
Well my Grade 1's kicked butt at number 2 school. As you can see the final score was a wipe out.... well done girls! I'm so proud of them. We had cheerleaders from number 2 school and a very strange 'Dance off' I honestly thought the 'dancers' were going to beat me up!!

Waved Jaz off for his first lesson of the day (11.35am) and I am at home....My grade 1's have exams today and tomorrow so no school for me! May holiday in China Thurs/Fri so I am done for the week! Another plus is that the sun has come out.... woop woop!
Start of another week and it's wet. I only have three days work this week though and Mel only one!
On the plus side today I am doing one of my favorite topics for a lesson base and that's 007 James Bond. Some code breaking, some videos and some competitions, good fun. :-) Well, it's Sunday night again and time to hit the sack but not after a very nice chat to Lynne and Danny back in the UK. Oh, the wonders of Skype and how small it makes the world. It was really nice to chat with them for the first time and catch up again. BTW I hope you enjoy our website.
We have an early start tomorrow, 10:45am... oh no! two 40min classes in the morning and then 2 1/2 hour lunch break, and then another two classes in the afternoon! It's like hard labour. No, I mean it's nothing like hard labour. One of the best things about working here is that I can sleep at night again. No stress and no worries. I certainly don't miss working my socks off in the UK, taking work home and stressing all weekend about Monday! Part time hours for double time pay, got it sussed lol. Are we happy, you bet! (Miss our friends though, but that's where Skype comes in) Hi to Patrick. Wow, a microlight landed in our sports field just the other day and I thought that was cool but today a helicopter. What's going to happen next. Funny thing is you get no notice and there is no preparation etc it just sits itself down with people milling around it! Within minutes there was a huge crowd, me included, snapping away with their phone cameras. Then we were being photo'd. A few people thought it was ours LOL I didn't correct them. :-) Check out the 'How did we do it' page for a description of requirements for teaching English in China. I have now added our return travel costs to Hong Kong.
Skype is a must. An 8am nudge from Mel this morning was to contact me bessie back in the UK to wish him a happy birthday although it was about 1am there. I hope I was one of the first.
Despite a few dodgy signal connections and my video going off it went well. Skype is essential for international communications so if you plan on using it I have added a few key words and one liners you will definitely need to master in advance. Here goes: Can you hear me? Hello! Are you there? I think they have gone. Hello! Can you hear me? Can you see me? HELLO! The signal has gone red. Turn your camera off Is your camera on? Text me. Send me an IM Whats an IM? See the little icon on the bottom left of your screen? well click it. No you've turned your camera off. You hang up first. No you... Hello! 4 days off. Yay, Thursday and Friday this week and next week for Jared and Tuesday to Friday next week for Mel.
It's exam time again for the students so it's time off for us. We have tried to focus our English lessons upon their preparations for it and have done different types of lessons according to the majority requests. We have done, question revisions based on their book text, reading and listening skills with questioning and writing a short passage about visiting a famous site/place. The kids have mostly appreciated it although there have been a few who just don't care. It is said that you can please some of the people some of the time but not all of the people all the time. It is a web based qualification that you can do at your own pace over 120 hours.
