Very comfortable on some cushion stuffing. Night night Fred. Momma bird rescued her fledgling the next morning after it spent the night in our kitchen.

Well, we decided to get out on the push bikes for some air and to tire us out.(the heat is really messing with our sleep patterns). We decided to cycle along the river ( Zijiang and Shaoshui River) and thank goodness we did. What an amazing cycle ride.... I know its a bank holiday back in the UK but not here in China, although you would have thought it was..
Firstly we saw the usual beautiful light show on all the buildings and bridges which always looks amazing. We then saw the Grobics team (Granny aerobics) which are down by the river usually on a Friday night. This time it was with a difference tho... all along the front row they had costumes on, black rara skirts with red sequins and red/pink tops, it looked really fantastic, they were doing their usual chinese dancing to music, maybe 200 or more..during our cycle ride we saw another 4 sets of dance groups each with more than 100 dancing men, women and children. Cycling a little further we passed hundreds of families just enjoying the warm night and having fun. We saw groups of men thrashing whips (like indiana Jones style) and large bobbins which they also used whips to spin... it makes a tremendous cracking sound under the bridges.. we then cycled along the main bridge and heard another large gathering so we stopped on the bridge to look. There in the street was a huge screen/projector showing a kung fu film with around 100 people sitting watching it on little red chairs.. there were food vendors and kids everywhere, it was a real family atmosphere. Over the road we saw couples ballroom dancing in a CAR PARK....only in China! Cycled down a restaurant filled side street all lit up and teeming with people eating and chatting so we stopped for Bīngzhèn píjiǔ (cold beer) we then cycled home... now sat having a nice cuppa tea :) Counting the days now. Only five more weeks work left so that's five more different lessons left. Although I love the job and will be sad to leave my friends and students behind I'm missing home and ready for a break now. Thailand is calling so it's there first stop for a weeks holiday. Beach hut on Koh Lone island...can't wait for that. Then London Heathrow here we come. Thanks to Stuart my best buddy for coming to meet us at the airport. mmmm Pie, chips and gravy me thinks, and a pint of Pedigree. Looking forward to catching up with our family and friends.
34 degrees during the day and 22 at night. Phew, what a scorcher!
Can't find the download cable for Mel's camera. We have lots of pics to upload from our camping trip and other activities but can't just yet. Moved apartments last month into the 'departure lounge' Rob lived here for a short spell and then left, Nel then moved in and then left...and now us....... I guess we will be back in the UK soon, Yeah, visit friends and family :-)
